Our Mission:
Balance the Scales
The Military Justice System Is Broken—CMDF Inc. WILL Fix It.
For decades, service members have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution. Yet, when the moment comes for the Constitution to defend them, they are too often denied the very due process they swore to uphold. Commanders wield unchecked authority. Military judges face systemic pressures. Judge advocates—though dedicated—are constrained, undertrained, and subject to unlawful command influence (UCI). The balance of power is not just tilted—it is broken.
CMDF Inc. WILL change that.
We are in the process of securing our state charitable registration and 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and we WILL begin raising funds immediately to prepare for full-scale operations. Donations made before IRS approval WILL likely be retroactively tax-deductible upon final determination (consult a tax professional), ensuring that every contribution WILL go toward our fight for justice.
The Unchecked Power of Commanders and the Systemic Corruption of Military Justice
The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) was meant to be a system of fairness and accountability, but in reality, commanders control nearly every aspect of it. Investigations, prosecutions, and judicial outcomes are often dictated not by the facts, but by political pressure, institutional bias, and unlawful command influence.
Jason Wareham, a founder of CMDF Inc., a U.S. Marine Corps judge advocate for nearly a decade and a half, saw this firsthand. Again and again, he witnessed corruption, command overreach, and clear violations of due process. The system is not designed to protect service members—it is designed to protect the institution.
The Harsh Reality of Military Defense: Inexperienced Judge Advocates, No Resources, No Recourse
Judge advocates—many of whom are committed professionals—are forced into a broken system that hinders their ability to zealously defend their clients. They are moved between billets too quickly to develop expertise, operate under severe restrictions on resources and discovery, and face direct career threats if they push back against command priorities.
Meanwhile, service members facing legal battles are abandoned.
📌 More than one-third of military suicides are tied to threats of investigation, prosecution, or involuntary separation.
📌 Military defense attorneys often lack the experience to counter aggressive government prosecution.
📌 Commanders hold the keys to careers, reputations, and livelihoods—with no independent oversight.
The Missing Weapon in the Fight for Military Justice: Civilian Legal Power
After leaving active duty, Jason Wareham entered the world of civilian litigation, working in New York Big Law and now in private civilian practice at Allen Vellone Wolf Helfrich & Factor P.C. in Denver, CO. What he discovered was staggering:
💥 Civilian litigators operate with more resources, legal tools, and expertise than military judge advocates ever could.
💥 Federal courts, FOIA, Privacy Act litigation, and discovery mechanisms offer far more power than what service members currently have access to.
💥 The only thing stopping service members from accessing elite legal representation is money.
That is why CMDF Inc. WILL break that financial barrier and bring the power of elite civilian litigation into military justice.
CMDF Inc. WILL Close the Gap
✔ We WILL fund high-level, civilian legal defense teams for service members and veterans facing injustice in military courts, administrative boards, and beyond.
✔ We WILL hold accountable the commanders, prosecutors, and judge advocates who abuse their power.
✔ We WILL bridge the gap between military law and civilian litigation, leveraging the best tools available—from FOIA requests to federal injunctions—to defend those who serve.
✔ We WILL support mental health initiatives, because we know that legal battles are about more than careers—they are about lives.
The military refuses to take care of its own when allegations arise. We WILL.
All We Need is the Resources to Fight—Donations Will Make This Mission Possible
CMDF Inc. is headed at flank speed towards nonprofit registration and pursuing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. While that approval is pending, we WILL begin fundraising immediately—because the need is too urgent to wait. As soon as we are able to collect donations, there will be a Donate Now button at the top and bottom of this page.
📌 Your donation WILL fund legal battles that hold the military accountable and improve due process and litigation standards.
📌 Your support WILL help us defend service members abandoned by the system and ensure their resilience to face the challenge.
📌 Your contribution WILL likely be retroactively tax-deductible once our 501(c)(3) is approved (consult a tax professional).
All that stands in the way of justice is money. That is the only advantage the government has—the ability to outspend, outlast, and wear down those it seeks to destroy.
CMDF Inc. WILL change that—but only with your help.
